A Credit Union is an organization formed by a group of people with a common bond who agree to save money and to make loans to the members of the organization. The Credit Union membership elects a Board of Directors to formulate policies and ensure that the day-to-day operations of your Credit Union are run according to government legislation and the by-laws. The Board of Directors is elected from the membership at the annual meeting. All members are welcome to attend the meeting and, if desired, to run for a position on the Board. As a member of the Credit Union you have one vote; regardless of your amount in shares and deposits. This means that you have a voice in your Credit Union and your opinion makes a difference. Unlike other financial institutions you have a say in the way your Credit Union operates.
